Intro to Zen Class
Held the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m., the instruction will cover the “basics” of Zen including a brief historical overview and basics in meditation. The class is intended to provide a friendly orientation and space for Q&A. No RSVP required.
Join us for 40 minutes of zazen (sitting meditation) on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. and Sundays at 7:10 and 8:00 a.m. If you’re new, please come 15 minutes early for a quick orientation. Click here for basics on sitting meditation from our friends at Zen Mountain Monastery.
The Des Moines Zen Center is offering childcare on Sunday mornings. Children of all ages, from infants to school-age, are welcome to eat and play with adults downstairs during the Sunday 8:00 zazen period. Volunteers will be there starting at 7:30 a.m. and will stay through the end of the dharma talk. The kids will be offered a light breakfast snack shortly after 8:00 a.m. For questions, contact Teva at TevaLee@gmail.com.
Lectures on a Buddhist topic occur each Sunday following the 8:00 a.m. zazen and service.
Zen Discussion Groups
A small group meets bi-monthly to discuss various Zen topics. Books may be discussed but are not required. Newcomers welcome the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month following sitting meditation starting at 6:00 p.m..

Ryumonji Zen Monastery
